Product Features
232 485 PRO (CA, Active)
- Uses original SP3232 and SP3485 for high-speed, stable, reliable, and compatible communication.
- This module converts between 232 and RS485 signals without the need for "receive-transmit" control, making it as easy to use as operating a serial port.
- Adopts standard DB9 interface and 5.08mm plug-and-play terminal blocks for smooth and secure connections.
- Operates on a 5V power supply only.
- Power supply voltage must be connected to the 485 terminal when the module is in operation.
- Uses large-package components for enhanced stability and reliability.
- Features independent power and signal isolation circuits.
- The 232 terminal is equipped with overcurrent and surge protection functions, ensuring stable current and voltage output and strong impact resistance.
- The RS485 terminal includes overcurrent protection, surge protection, and lightning gas discharge protection circuits.
- The board has reserved 120R termination resistor pads to increase signal transmission stability and reduce interference.
- Baud rate support range: up to 2Mbps (In practical applications, the baud rate supported by this module is limited by the baud rates supported by the devices connected at both ends and needs to be adjusted according to the actual situation.)
- Onboard two LED indicators to indicate the transmission and reception status of the circuit signals.
- 232 terminal indicator: The green light is on when data is received at the 232 terminal.
- 485 terminal indicator: The green light is on when data is received at the 485 terminal.
- Aluminum alloy shell with oxidized matte finish, precise cutouts, sturdy and durable, and exquisite craftsmanship.
232 485 PRO (CB, Active)
- Uses original SP3232 and SP3485 for high-speed, stable, reliable, and compatible communication.
- This module converts between 232 and RS485 signals without the need for "receive-transmit" control, making it as easy to use as operating a serial port.
- Adopts 5.0mm screw-type terminal blocks for smooth and secure connections.
- Operating voltage: 5.0V
- Power supply voltage must be connected to the 232 terminal when the module is in operation.
- Uses large-package components for enhanced stability and reliability.
- Features independent power and signal isolation circuits.
- The 232 terminal is equipped with overcurrent and electrostatic protection functions, ensuring stable current and voltage output and strong impact resistance.
- The RS485 terminal includes overcurrent protection, surge protection, and lightning gas discharge protection circuits.
- Onboard 120R termination resistor DIP switch to enhance signal transmission stability.
- Baud rate support range: up to 2Mbps (In practical applications, the baud rate supported by this module is limited by the baud rates supported by the devices connected at both ends and needs to be adjusted according to the actual situation.)
- Onboard three LED indicators to indicate the transmission and reception status of the circuit signals.
- PWR light: Red, power indicator
- TXD light: Green, 232 data transmission indicator, data flow: RS485->232
- RXD light: Blue, 232 data reception indicator, data flow: 232->RS485
- Rail-mounted ABS eco-friendly shell, compact size, easy installation, and cost-effective.
Testing Method
- Connect a USB-to-232 serial module to the 232 port of the 232 485 PRO module
- TXD to RXD (pin 2)
- RXD to TXD (pin 3)
- GND to GND (pin 5)
- Connect a USB-to-485 serial module to the 485 port of the 232 485 PRO module
- A to A
- B to B
- Connect the power supply to the 232 485 PRO module
- 5V to 5V
- GND to GND
- Connect the USB-to-485 serial module and the USB-to-232 serial module to the computer, open two serial port debugging assistants, and select the corresponding port numbers.
- Use one of the serial port debugging assistants to send data to the 232 485 PRO and observe if the receiving window of the other serial port assistant receives the same data as the sending end. If the data is the same, repeat the operation in reverse.
Hardware Connection
Notes
- Power must be connected to the 485 terminal when in use.
- This passthrough module converts between 232 and RS485 signals, but RS485 is half-duplex communication, which allows bidirectional communication but not simultaneously in both directions; it must alternate. Even though 232 is full-duplex communication, it cannot transmit and receive simultaneously; that is, each end of the communication channel can be both a transmitting end and a receiving end, but at the same time, information can only flow in one direction.
- Fully consider the lightning protection and anti-interference design of the 485 bus. When transmitting over long distances in the field, connecting the module's "ground" terminal to the earth can provide excellent anti-interference and lightning protection, making the 485 bus safer. For short-distance transmission indoors, it is not necessary to connect to the earth.
